How to Make SMS Notification The Dude (Application Monitoring Network)

How to Make SMS Notification The Dude (Application Monitoring Network)

How to monitor network devices (Router, Switch, Server, etc.), if there are changes in the status of such devices from up to down and vice versa then there will be incoming SMS notification to your mobile phone. This can be done with the help of Internet network monitoring application of artificial Mikrotik,

From here I assume that you can install The Dude and already made the appropriate Network Map your network topology. From here on we will go directly to Tutorial How to Create SMS notifications on Applications The Dude.

What should we prepare?

1. Application The Dude is already installed and ready to use (can use old or new version)
2. USB Modem, to send SMS
3. Application Plink SSH, to send a command from The Dude to Mikrotik via SSH

The first step

Installing the USB Modem in Mikrotik to send SMS. The way I've discussed here:
Setting & Send SMS in Mikrotik

the second step

Create a dummy user in Mikrotik that will be used to send an SMS command to Mikrotik.
Please create a new user with the role / Group write.

Third step

Download Plink SSH application here .
Copy plink.exe to the directory c: \ Plink

The fourth step

Creating a new notification in The Dude. Go to The Dude -> Go to the menu Notifications -> Create Notifications bar -> give me his name eg "SMS Notification" -> check Enabled -> Select the type: execute locally

In the Command column fill the script with the following format:
C: \ plink \ plink.exe -ssh -l mikrotik_sms_username -pw mikrotik_sms_password mikrotik_sms_ipaddress "/ sms tool send phone-number = nomorhpanda usbportnumber message = \" [Probe.Name] on [Device.Name] is now [Service.Status] \ ""

The fifth step

Apply (apply) a notification that has been made to the Network Map that we want to monitor his device. Go to the Network Map want -> click the Settings menu -> Go to the Polls tab -> check Use Notifications -> check SMS Notification.

The sixth step

SSL configuration test her by trying taken offline right (to down-right) devices that are monitored. If the configuration is correct, then there will be incoming SMS notification to your mobile phone.

seventh step

From the example of the notification above there are two devices down, but incoming SMS notification there were 10 SMS. If the incoming notification is too many, we can reduce just one SMS me per device, by simply activating service ping on each device are monitored.
The trick with a double click to the respective device -> Go to the tab Services -> Delete all its service except ping, or according to your wishes.
